Senior Advantage is a cutting-edge health service, offered for those 60 and older, through Mason District Hospital. The program is an intensive outpatient behavioral health program that promotes the emotional, physical & behavioral well-being of senior citizens with an integrative approach.

We provide outpatient treatment for mental and emotional health in a positive, caring environment that promotes hope and independence. The treatment team includes a Medical Director, Psychotherapists, Registered Nurses, CNA Support Persons and transportation coordinator. Patient care is fully coordinated with the individual’s primary care physician.

Intensive outpatient treatment lasts twelve to fourteen weeks and occurs one to four days per week. Follow-up care is provided for 12 months after discharge from the program. Medicare generally covers appropriate diagnoses and treatment plans of this medical service. Assistance with transportation can be arranged for patients when other means are not available. A noon meal is provided to patients during the treatment day.

Senior Advantage is currently located in the across the street of Mason District Hospital at the West Campus.  Inquiries and self-referrals, physician referrals, and social services referrals may be made by calling Senior Advantage at (309) 640-0535.

    Patient Testimonial

“I am thrilled to share my experience with the Senior Advantage Program at Mason District Hospital in Havana, Illinois. This program offers seniors excellent outpatient treatment for mental and emotional health, all within a positive, caring environment that promotes HOPE and independence.

What makes Senior Advantage truly special is the group setting, where you connect with peers facing different, yet sometimes similar, life challenges. I was amazed by how much I learned and absorbed simply by listening to others. All of this is led by a therapist, who helps guide us during our discussions. The group setting quickly turns into a close community of friends that extends beyond our weekly meetings.

After our sessions, we enjoy a delicious lunch together, giving us a chance to chat with both friends and staff. This program truly makes you feel like part of a supportive team. The friendships I’ve gained here are a true blessing and will last a lifetime.

Additionally, the program provides transportation to and from each session, easing any worries about getting to appointments. If you ever feel alone, depressed, or unsure of where to turn, I highly recommend considering this wonderful group. We are lucky to have the Senior Advantage Program at Mason District Hospital!” – MDH Patient
