Business Office

(309) 543-4431 exts: 3315 or 3316

When you check into the hospital or the clinic, we will ask you about insurance coverage and your plans for paying your medical bills. Usually, one of these three situations will occur:

  • Insurance Coverage: You have insurance coverage, and we will check with your insurance company to make sure that the services you will receive will be covered. Then you will be charged personally for the deductible and any uncovered services.
  • No Insurance Coverage: If you do not have insurance, you will be billed personally for the services we provide you. We can work out a payment plan with you.
  • Charity Care: If you cannot pay your medical bills, we will explore several options with you. We hope that you will let us know in advance of any problems that may occur.

Our Business Office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, to talk with you or meet with you to discuss payment of your bills. We can help you with the following:

  • Understanding what you were charged for
  • Submitting your claim to your insurance company
  • Following up with your insurance provider due to possible problems with your claim or delays in payment
  • Setting up payment arrangements to fit your budget
  • Helping you apply for our Charity Care Program
  • Getting extra copies of bills

Charity Care

The goal of the charity care program is to help uninsured or under-insured patients with their medical expenses. It is a free service funded by the Hospital Foundation.

First – We assist in confidential, financial counseling to help guide patients towards gaining access to government sources of medical assistance including Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Programs, Medicare, and other state and local programs for patients who are eligible for assistance.

Second – You will be asked to fill out an application that will allow us to determine whether you qualify for the charity care program or discounted care program. You may pick up the application at the Mason District Hospital Business Office or print out the one here on our web site.

Third – We will work with you to establish a payment plan to meet your needs for any remaining balance.
