Mason District Hospital Laboratory Services performs a broad range of tests using advanced instrumentation and technically proven methodologies. The Laboratory staff consists of highly trained individuals including board-certified pathologists, medical technologist, medical laboratory technologist, and phlebotomists; who use their knowledge, expertise, skills and abilities to provide you a high quality, full service laboratory. The Laboratory offers services in the areas of Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, and Transfusion Medicine. Services are provided for all patients, neonate through geriatric. We provide services for inpatients, outpatients, nursing homes residents, assisted living facilities, physician offices, and clinics. Our laboratory is staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Mason District Hospital Laboratory staff performs many of the laboratory tests on site. However, if the lab is unable to perform a particular test, the test may be performed off site in one of our accredited reference laboratories. We know timely results significantly impact patient treatment, so we place laboratory results in the hands of health care providers as quickly as possible. We never forget that our services are often the foundation of the physician’s diagnosis and treatment.

The Mason District Hospital Laboratory, staffed by pathologists, medical technologist, phlebotomist, medical laboratory technicians, and receptionists, is accredited by the Commission of Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists (CAP). During the CAP accreditation process, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine the entire staff’s qualifications, the laboratory’s equipment, facilities, safety program and record, as well as the overall management of the laboratory. This stringent inspection program is designed to specifically ensure the highest standard of care for the laboratory’s patients. The MDH Laboratory is one of more than 6,000 CAP-accredited laboratories nationwide.
