Patient Services
§ Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation § Physical and Occupational Therapy
Close to home! Whether you or your loved one will be staying in the hospital or using our outpatient services, it’s so good to have a medical facility you can trust so close to home. In an emergency, that may make all the difference.
The Emergency Medicine Team at Mason District Hospital recruits highly trained professionals to provide emergency medical treatment to those who live in our communities. The Emergency Department is open and staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
When someone calls 911, Mason County EMS’s Advanced Life Support Ambulance is dispatched from Havana or Mason City to provide care at the scene and on the way to the hospital. Mason County EMS provides the highest level of pre-hospital care in the State of Illinois.
Our 24-hour hospital Emergency Department is staffed by a physician who specializes in emergency medicine, assisted by a team of Registered Nurses who are certified as Trauma Nurse Specialists. In addition, the staff maintains certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
Call 911 or come to the Emergency Department entrance at the hospital if you have an emergency.
If you or a loved one will be in the hospital overnight, here are some things you should know:
§ What to bring with you: - Glasses, dentures, hearing aids - Robe and slippers - List of medicines you take - Identification and insurance cards § What not to bring: - Money - Valuable jewelry § Patient Rooms - Each room is private - Each room has its own clock, so don’t bring a watch. - Each room has its own TV with cable. § Visitors: - Please have only two visitors in the room at one time. - Visiting hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you would like to visit some other time, please check with a nurse. - Visitors may eat in the cafeteria for breakfast or lunch. After 1:15 p.m., the cafeteria quits offering meals to the public. - Please check with a nurse first before planning to stay with a patient overnight.
The hospital cafeteria is open to the public for breakfast and lunch. If you are visiting a patient during the early morning or at noon, we invite you to eat in the cafeteria.
The hospital’s gift shop is operated by volunteers and offers a selection of gifts to express your best wishes for a patient and to make a hospital stay more comfortable. It is open each day but does not have a set schedule. It is located just to the left of the hospital’s main lobby.
Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation is an exercise, educational, and social program that will help speed your recovery if you have had a recent heart or breathing problem. The program can also help those who are at risk for future problems.
You will use several types of exercise equipment; have your heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation monitored; and learn about your illness and how to improve your health. Your treatment will be covered by Medicare, Medicaid, or your primary insurance company if you are eligible. You are required to have a doctor’s order.
